After discussions with Brian, we decided the jump of Zoe's character Karen was too hectic and needed to be implied more.
We decided to put a clip in of 'Karen' sniffing a hoodie that belonged to Matt. Taking inspiration from the opening sequence of Natural Born Killers, Stone uses a prefigurative image of Micky the killer's blood drenched face to flag up potential narrative development.
We decided to place it further back in the film perhaps between the dialogue between Rosie and Karen where Karen tells Rosie she's not good enough for Matt (Which she later backtracks upon saying she meant that Rosie deserves better)
By using this shot it implies more about Karen's character and allows for a smoother build up to the the discovery that would take place if the film were to continue instead of the sudden change from 'geeky' friend to boyfriend kidnapping psycho.
